Telling Tales - A West Bromwich Portraiture Project

Through funding from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF), Multistory has been commissioned to creatively evaluate the impact of a range of activities on the everyday lives of Sandwell residents.
One of these projects ‘Telling Tales’ is an intergenerational portraiture project which celebrates the diverse talents, skills and interests of the people from Yew Tree, Charlemont and Stone Cross in West Bromwich.
Residents have been brought together in pairs, one young person and one older person, which were matched according to their hobbies, talents and interests. The resulting images and audio will be displayed in an ‘urban art trail’ with a series of posters exhibited on bus shelters in the area and with a series of ‘listening posts’ exhibited in community spaces.
The posters and listening posts will be in place for approx 2 months and a celebration event bringing the participants together took place on Thursday 13 September at Yew Tree Community Centre.
