Project Overview
‘Move It!’ was delivered across all four of the Black Country Boroughs by Multistory and Dudley Performing Arts and used dance as a way of showing young people that exercise isn’t just about the typical boring stuff.

The project explored how getting involved with activities can benefit young people, as it increases self esteem, confidence and helps build a good body image. Not to mention it’s a fun way to get healthy and build friendships!

Multistory’s role was to work with a group of 20 young people who formed a ‘media team’ to develop a website that documents the project’s achievements, including interviews with participants, the artists and support workers, and reveals the intimate journeys of some of the young people involved. No spin, turn or jump went unrecorded thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of the media team who tracked the progress of each of the dance projects from the first workshops through to the final performances.

The media team took control of the editing process and made decisions about all aspects of the look and feel of the Move It! website to ensure that it appeals to their peers. For the young people involved this was a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and to take ownership of both the process and the final product.
