Tipton Circus Stars – A Shining Performance
Over 12 weeks at workshops, of only a couple of hours per week, a diverse group of young people from around Tipton were brought together for the first time to learn circus skills and perform at major events across the town.
Young people from Farley Park Youth Club, Tipton Muslim Community Association, Tipton Community Association and Coneygre Arts Centre worked with performers Masha, Wolly and Rowan from Friction Arts to develop skills in juggling, stilt walking, Diablo, plate spinning, and globe walking, amongst others, before coming together as the Tipton Circus Stars to put all their new found skills into an all new performance.
The first public appearance of the Circus Stars was at the Tipton Carnival where they exhibited their skills in the parade around the park and in a half hour show that wowed the crowd.
The Tipton Circus Stars next appeared on Sunday 12 August 2007, in Victoria Park, Tipton, this was a performance postponed from July due to bad weather. Once again the show attracted a large crowd and the Circus Stars provided superb entertainment.
Unfortunately the performance scheduled for Sunday 19 August 2007, in Farley Park, Great Bridge was unable to take place due to the sudden arrival of yet more rain.
